Be back as soon as change settles.
The title “Photographer” – has become worn in today’s culture. Thus losing its standard and maybe even its sustainability and credibility.
The need to redefine it and associate new meanings to it – is essential for its future.
In the beginning, the function of the photographer was, in a sense, a data collector. Capturing data of our culture. He or she recorded: how we lived, how we died, how we ate, how we slept, how we made love, how we made hate, how we made war, how we made peace.
But today, the photographer’s function has become more about instantaneous gratification and less about its function. We lost the force of function – due to the net generation carrying its worldwide web in its pocket.
Perhaps we need to question what would society look like if we had less instantaneous gratification? How would a society develop when it acts upon the maxim.
Be it the fine arts, literature or music – the reduction to the essentials never lead our culture to any catastrophes.
On the contrary, our culture has benefited from it.
Many photographers take photographs.
But I…. as a photographer make a photograph. I make my photographs with light rejected from the subject. I don’t claim to tell you anything about the subject but at the same moment I tell you everything about the subject that you don’t understand.
Are you a photographer?
In all honesty … good question…
After all who are we and what have we done?
We are just two independent photographers who want to connect and collaborate.
We open Mindshift with the goal of sharing knowledge. Opening our space to individuals to create, experience and evolve. A collective that bridges passion and candid conversations. This may seem idealistic but collaboration leads to innovations, breakthroughs and art…
Collaborations happen every day in our job and in our lives. Whether its with an editor, graphic designer, art director, our assistants, or our families. We learn from every single interaction… We never stop learning.
Mindshift is a facilitator for this experience.
In saying this, we open up our first dialogue with you from our first meeting. The challenge was to share our knowledge from “What did I learn this year…”
Below are some of the reflections from the collective…
Please share yours with us too…
Balance is Key.
Less think, more do.
Always have a notebook handy… and a pencil.
The worse they can do is say no.
Don’t let people tell you what makes you happy.
Never turn down a chance to shoot.
Clear the air often.
Listen, listen, listen and ask strategic questions.
Focus.
Realize that we are all varying degrees of “broke”.
Content is anything and everything.
Don’t treat anyone like crap.
Never be lukewarm.
Is a new group for creative professionals to connect and collaborate.
We are opening up our doors to a select number of applicants who are not afraid to engage openly in no holds bar collaboration of their relevant, engaging, high end projects. The idea of success through the sharing of knowledge and experiences to further each others creative endeavors is our mandate.
Success is through the doing.
